Can Dogs Eat Blackberries? 🐾
Seasonal snacking, garden goodies, and whether dogs can join in on the feast

Can dogs eat blackberries? There’s something magical about this time of year in the UK. Hedgerows are brimming with blackberries, we can feel the warmth of summer, and dog’s noses twitch at every new scent.

While I was out on my dog walks this week, I couldn’t resist stopping to pick some ripe, juicy blackberries from the hedgerows. Naturally, the dogs were curious (and hopeful!). That got me thinking, can dogs eat blackberries? The good news is that, yes, in moderation, blackberries are safe for most dogs to enjoy as an occasional treat!
They’re packed with:
Just make sure they’re fresh, unsprayed, and offered in small amounts.

Some of the dogs gave them a cautious sniff before munching happily. Others looked at me like I’d offered them spinach, not impressed! Every dog is different, and it’s always best to introduce new treats slowly.
Homemade Blackberry and Apple Cobbler

Back at home, I used our foraged blackberries (and a few windfall apples from my garden) to make a delicious blackberry and apple cobbler. Don’t worry, the dogs didn’t get a slice of that. There’s too much sugar and no-go ingredients like nutmeg and sugar mean it’s strictly for us humans!

The Joys of Dog Walking
Seasonal changes like this are one of the things I love most about being a dog walker and pet sitter. The countryside changes week by week, and every walk brings something new to explore.
